Naomi Wanjiru is a 43-year-old single mother and nurse from Nyandarua County in central Kenya. She was diagnosed with drug-resistant tuberculosis of the spine in 2009 when she worked in a Comprehensive Care Centre/TB clinic as a nurse where she was in constant contact with TB patients. She now campaigns for increased awareness about the disease. Her efforts resulted in a chest clinic being built her county hospital.
